Serving South Austin and beyond since 2006...
Wally Doggett and his wife Kelly met in acupuncture school and started South Austin Community Acupuncture together in 2006. The clinic grew out of a desire to create a neighborhood clinic that represents a natural expression of ourselves into the community we live in.
Statement of Inclusivity and Ethics
We value diversity. We work to create a safe and comfortable environment for all members of our community. All are welcome here, regardless of income, education, language, race, skin color, nationality, legal status, sex, gender identity, marital status, sexual orientation, familial situation, age, religion, political beliefs, abilities or disabilities, size or shape. Your level of care will never be based on any of these factors.
The Clinic
We offer acupuncture, cupping, and Chinese herbal medicine.
- Acupuncture
South Austin Community Acupuncture offers acupuncture in a group setting on a radical $20-$40 sliding scale. With the support of our community we are able to provide treatment that is both accessible and affordable, so you can get acupuncture as often or for as long as needed to get the best results.
We do not offer appointments for private treatment, but do some work with on tables as necessary. This is purely at the discretion of the practitioner and contingent on our work flow.
- Cupping
If therapeutically relevant, cupping may be offered as part of your treatment. We do not offer sliding cupping, gua sha, or other related techniques. Cupping is an additional $20.
- Chinese herbal medicine
Our Practitioners
Our practitioners all have advanced degrees with extensive training in acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine, are board certified by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, and licensed by the Texas Medical Board to practice acupuncture in the State of Texas.
Wally
Wally Doggett is a 2004 graduate of the Academy of Oriental Medicine at Austin. While a student at AOMA, Wally apprenticed at Turtle Dragon Health Services with senior herbalist Dr. Wu Peirong, and more recently completed Dr. Mazin Al-Khafaji's diploma course in Chinese medicine dermatology.
Wally treats in the community acupuncture clinic Wednesday - Saturday. He spends the remainder of his time providing herbal consults for skin disorders and managing the clinic's operations.
Sara
Sara Calland has an undergraduate degree in Political Economy and Community Psychology from Evergreen State College, with an emphasis in social work and alternatives to capitalism. The experience of receiving acupuncture at a community acupuncture clinic in Olympia, Washington is what led Sara to AOMA Graduate School of Integrative Medicine and ultimately South Austin Community Acupuncture.
Sara treats Sunday - Wednesday starting at 10:00am. Se habla español.
Iona
Iona Tan is a recent graduate of AOMA Graduate School of Integrative Medicine, and also worked at AOMA's herbal pharmacy throughout her clinical studies. With a background in human services advocacy and a B.S. in Media and Cultural Studies, Iona approaches health and wellness from a community-driven perspective. She is excited to work together to support the ever-changing seasons within us and around us.
Xeo
Xeo Thuy Tien has had the unique experience of spending time at every acupuncture school in Texas, earning a Masters from Texas Health and Science University in Austin, a Doctorate from the American College of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in Houston, and then finally working in the herbal pharmacy at AOMA Herbal Medicine - where they met Iona, which ultimately led them here!
